When you start getting into lumbar fusions without clear indications, that’s where you hear these bad stories about spine success rates. That’s why if you’re contemplating a fusion, you should typically get a second opinion and go to a surgeon who’s really gonna put some thought into what procedures needed if you really need the fusion and what other options you may have.

Herniated disc success rates for a microdiscectomy or minimally invasive discectomy typically run in the neighborhood of 75% to 95%.
